The draft proposal proposes 28 EU member states implement the two-step approach to effectively reduce the use of plastic bags in order to achieve the 2019 goal of reducing the use of ultra-thin plastic bags by 80% over 2010 levels. The resolution is expected to greatly boost the market demand for biodegradable plastics and it is expected to create tremendous growth opportunities for related manufacturers over the next five years.
